BUILDING WORK STARTS IN GRANTHAM24 PROPERTY SCHEME FOR MUIR GROUP
![]() Bourne-based builder FE Peacock has begun work on a much needed affordable housing scheme on Shaw Road in Grantham. The builders have designed and are building the 24 property scheme for Muir Group Housing Association (www.muir.org.uk <http://www.muir.org.uk/> ). It comprises a range of two and three bedroom family houses for affordable rent and should be complete in spring 2010. The development meets environmental building standards which highlight FE Peacock’s commitment to creating affordable, well-built and energy-efficient homes. The timber frame construction being used for the homes is an efficient method of building which allows for quicker construction times. Karl Hick, managing director of FE Peacock, said: “This development will meet the need for affordable housing in the area, allowing local people who were previously priced out of the housing market to purchase a home in the town they grew up in. “We are working very closely with Muir Group to provide a first-class housing development.” David Robinson, director of development at Muir Group Housing Association, said: “Muir Group is delighted to be working in partnership with FE Peacock and South Kesteven District Council to provide affordable homes for local people.” Timber frames for the new homes are being supplied and erected by Kestrel Timber Frames, based in nearby Market Deeping in Lincolnshire. Both FE Peacock and Kestrel Timber Frame are part of the Larkfleet Group (www.larkfleetgroup.co.uk <http://www.larkfleetgroup.co.uk/> ). The homes are being built with funding from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).
