BUILDING WORK ON AFFORDABLE HOUSING SCHEME BEGINS IN WHAPLODE
Building work on a £1.2 million development in Whaplode (South Holland,
Bourne-based builder FE Peacock Construction has designed and is building the 12 property scheme for Boston-based Longhurst Homes. It comprises a range of two to three bedroom houses for affordable rent and shared ownership and will be complete in June 2010.
The development meets high environmental building standards which highlight FE Peacock’s commitment to creating affordable, well-built and energy-efficient homes.
The timber frame construction being used for the homes is an economical and efficient method of building which allows for a quicker construction time. The timber is sourced from sustainable forests.
Part of the development will allow first-time buyers to get a foot on the property ladder by purchasing part of their home and renting the rest on a shared ownership basis. The rest will be available at affordable rents.
Karl Hick, managing director of FE Peacock, said: "This development will meet the need for affordable housing in the area. The homes are economically very good and are designed to ensure residents live in a safe and friendly environment.
